Chile SEC certification

Certification Introduction

The Superintendencia de Electricidady Combustibles (SEC) of Chile is the national agency that formulates regulations on electrical products in Chile. The Chilean national agency SEC (Superintendence of Electricity and Combustible Fuels) has passed safety and energy efficiency regulations and adopted accredited laboratories and certification bodies to control the electrical, gasoline and fuel products entering the Chilean market. Before the products are sold to the Chilean market, they must pass one of the certification modes (there are many certification modes, and the following will introduce the first, second, and sixth certification modes) to obtain the accreditation certificate, SEC QR code (below) and energy efficiency certificate.

SEC Certification Basic Information
Certification Nature: Mandatory
Local Testing: Not Required
Local Representative: Required
Certificate Validity Period: Long-term
Certification Mark: Yes

Applicable product scope

Chile implements compulsory certification for some household appliances, and the product scope covered by Order 399 is detailed in the "List of Compulsory Certification of Electrical Products" published on the website of the Electrical and Flammables Supervision Committee. About 100 products are currently included in the "List of Compulsory Certification of Electrical Products". About 30 of them should be tested using the Chilean standard. The rest of the products are tested and certified according to IEC standards. In principle, the SEC directly adopts the IEC standard or the Chilean standard equivalent to the IEC. Chile's safety standards for electrical products (Chilean NCH standards) are based on IEC standards; certification systems for electronic products, such as consumer electronics, telecommunication equipment and information technology equipment, are still under development.

Certification Scheme

Chile SEC has 6 schemes, and the following 3 are suitable for China:

Certification Scheme 1:

Including formal test + subsequent evaluation of each batch of shipments
Scheme 1 Process:

1. Provide at least 3 samples for testing and obtain the accreditation certificate and SEC QR code , SEC QR code must be affixed to the product after obtaining the certificate of approval.
2. After the approval certificate is issued, the customer/applicant must inform us of each batch of goods exported to Chile.
3. We will take a certain number of samples according to the quantity of the goods after each batch of goods arrives at the port, and do necessary tests. Only the products that pass the test can be put on the market.

Certification Scheme 2:

Including formal test + factory inspection + semi-annual product evaluation test + semi-annual market spot check
Scheme 2 Process:
1. Provide at least 3 samples for testing and obtain the accreditation certificate and SEC QR code, the SEC QR code must be affixed to the product after obtaining the approval certificate.
2. After the accreditation certificate is issued, it will be sampled from the market once every six months (the Chilean laboratory organization will sample in Chile), and once every six months from the factory.
3. Conduct annual factory inspection once a year (the certificate is valid for a long time, as long as the factory inspection and sampling are accepted)
Certification Scheme 6:

Approval of foreign certification + supervision and testing of each batch of goods
Scheme 6 Process:
1. The importer must submit it to the Chilean SEC first, and the product has been obtained. Certification (such as GS VDE TUV mark UL, etc.)!
It must be noted that the foreign certification that can be recognized must be issued by a foreign issuing agency recognized by IAF members or signatory countries, and the certificate can be found on the website of the issuing agency.
2. The importer will notify us of the arrival of the imported goods, and we will arrange sampling and simplified testing and obtain the approval certificate.
